<br />AGENDA ITEM NO. 1 <br />MEETING DATE: October 10, 2019 <br /> <br />TO: Public Health and Safety Committee <br /> council@ci.tumwater.wa.us <br /> <br />FROM: Jon Weiks, Chief of Police <br /> jweiks@ci.tumwater.wa.us <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Mutual Aid/SWAT Interlocal Agreement <br /> <br /> <br />1) Attachments: <br /> <br />A. 2019 Interlocal Cooperation and Agreement for Law Enforcement Mutual <br />Aid and/or SWAT Deployment between Thurston County Law Enforcement <br />Agencies <br />B. 2011 Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for Law Enforcement Mutual Aid <br />between Thurston County Law Enforcement Agencies <br /> <br /> <br />2) Recommended Action: <br /> <br />Authorization to move the 2019 Interlocal Cooperation and Agreement for <br />Law Enforcement Mutual Aid and/or SWAT Deployment Agreement forward <br />for approval to the full Council. <br /> <br /> <br />3) Background: <br /> <br />The existing 2011 mutual aid agreement does not meet current risk <br />management standards, which includes specifically identifying SWAT <br />operations in the agreement. The 2019 agreement addresses these issues and <br />brings it up to standard. <br /> <br /> <br />4) Alternatives: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br /> <br />5) Fiscal Notes: <br /> <br />There are no additional costs specifically related to this agreement. All <br />associated costs for Tumwater Police Officers assigned to Thurston County <br />SWAT are identified and included within our regular biennium budget <br />process. <br />
