AGENDA ITEM NO. 6d
MEETING DATE: August 20, 2019
TO: City Council
council@ci.tumwater.wa.us
FROM: Chuck Denney, Parks and Recreation Director
cdenney@ci.tumwater.wa.us
SUBJECT: LOTT Interim Facility Use Application
1) Attachments:
2)
A. LOTT Facility Use Application
Recommended Action:
Staff requests that the City Council approve the LOTT Interim Facility Use
Application
3) Background:
The City's Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department has very limited
space for storage of equipment, supplies and park/building materials. The
City is currently utilizing one of the remaining barn structures at the former
Trails End Arena site to store play structure parts, lumber, park equipment,
a historical wagon and other smaller items. This building is frequently
vandalized and broken into and City property is not safe or secure there.
This agreement would allow the City to store unused equipment and supplies
at the former Olympia Brewery warehouse in Tumwater Valley, now owned
by LOTT. The warehouse is currently being used to store supplies for LOTT
as well as materials for the Procession of the Species non-profit. While not
100% secure, this site is vastly superior to the barn at trails end and greatly
increases the protection of City property.
4) Alternatives:
❑ Approve the Facility Use Application
❑ Do not approve
5) Fiscal Notes:
$0
