The Planning Commission <br />recommends approval of Ordinance No. O2019-019 as amended at their June <br />11, 2019 public hearing. <br /> <br /> <br />3) Background: <br /> <br />On April 1, 2019, the City Council adopted interim development regulations <br />(Ordinance No. O2019-018), which created a definition for “truck stops” and <br />listed them as a permitted use in the Light Industrial (LI) zone district with an <br />additional requirement that they only be allowed within one-half mile of the <br />rd <br />Interstate 5 and 93 Avenue interchange. The City Council held a public <br />hearing on April 16, 2019, approved findings and conclusions, and forwarded <br />the issue to the Planning Commission for further study. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission was briefed on Ordinance No. O2019-019 on May <br />14, 2019, discussed the ordinance at a work session on May 28, 2019, and held <br />a public hearing on June 11, 2019. <br /> <br />Because of the public hearing, the Planning Commission decided to recommend <br />a different definition for “truck stops”. The Planning Commission also <br />recommended allowing the “truck stop” use in the both the Light Industrial <br />(LI) and General Commercial (GC) zone districts provided they are within one- <br />rd <br />half mile of the I-5 and 93 Avenue interchange or the I-5 and Tumwater <br />Boulevard interchange. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
