Bid Tabulation <br />2) Recommended Action: <br />Staff recommends the City Council reject all bids received for the <br />construction of the Brewery Tower Renovation Project — Phase 1, recommend <br />staff review and modify the scope of work and re -advertise the project. <br />3) Background: <br />On November 8, 2018, the Public Works Committee reviewed the Brewery <br />Tower Renovation Project — Phase 1 and authorized staff to solicit bids for <br />construction. Bids for the project were opened on Wednesday, January 30, <br />2019. Six bids were received ranging from a low of $2,340,000 to a high of <br />$2,674,000. The architect's estimate was $1,435,000. <br />All of the bids are substantially higher than the architect's estimate and exceed <br />the available funding. Staff recommends that all bids be rejected. <br />The project, as bid, included three primary items of work; masonry restoration, <br />permanent roof/roofing construction and construction of the cornice and gutter <br />system. Staff and the architect will review the scope of work to determine <br />which work elements could be eliminated from this current project phase in <br />order to achieve a project bid within available funding. <br />4) Alternatives: <br />❑ Reject bids and re -advertise. <br />❑ Reject bids, modify the scope of work and re -advertise. <br />❑ Reject bids and delay project. <br />
